Don’t Gamble with Your Health was the theme of this year’s annual staff health benefits fair at Pleasant Valley State Prison (PVSP) in Coalinga.
Employees strolled through the health resource fair to gather information about insurance providers, employee wellness and union representation.
The fair was hosted by the personnel office under the direction of Christina Correira, institution personnel officer. Providers were invited to provide staff with information during open enrollment. The lively atmosphere filled the training classrooms, where staff could speak with insurance providers, network with supporting organization and also browse vendor pop-up shops.
The Central California Blood Bank was accepting blood donations and had a steady stream of participants throughout the event. Over 35 donors participated with two of those being double-red donations. In all, blood bank collected 37 units of blood, saving 111 lives.
In addition, staff was able to enjoy lunch outdoors from a variety of food trucks and beverage carts.
