Meeting Summary/Narrative:

  • Several properties are ready to close, pending federal money. After closing, will look at how to govern property, appropriate signage on property, and final language for deed restrictions.
  • Road:
  1. Possibly need a new truck in ‘27, estimated at about $200K.
  2. 1500 tons of salt just came in.
  1. 315 W. Main St. back elevator repair at est. $200K. Then will need to repair front elevator.
  2. Boys & Girls Club roof at $50K-$60K to replace old rolled roof, not tear off. Did not price tear off. Old roof not layered over.
  3. Clock tower needs facelift. Clock works, just cosmetic only. AOC may pay ½ and ask Court to pay half. Or AOC may pay for all of it. Greg will get updated quote for cosmetic repair.
  4. HVAC units changing over to R-454B with regulations phasing out R-410A in favor of more environmentally friendly options like R454B for new cooling and heating systems. Whole units will need replaced if updated at $3K-$10K each unit.
  5. Greg will spend time with Chief Mertz to look at all Fire House Stations for needs. Mertz will get with Battalion Chiefs to determine needs for station.
  1. Discussed electric vehicles.
  2. New radio purchase.
  3. Upfit new Sheriff’s vehicles is now $20K-$28K.
  4. Personnel: Only two KSP troopers cover the County now. Will need to add four more sheriff officers to cover areas and new development locations.
  1. Should know something regarding Safer Grant by the end of the month.
  2. Greg with maintenance will spend time with Chief Mertz to look at all Fire House Stations for needs. Mertz will meet with Battalion Chiefs to determine needs for each station.
  3. Ladder truck has crack in frame and will need to be repaired soon. Est. $50K-$60K to repair.
  4. Chief Canafax starts on Nov 2.
  5. Interlocal Agreement with City. EMS Agreement - last 2020 – every six years. New Chief will go into negotiations after he starts.
  6. Long term – Engine 7 will need to be replaced at est. $1 million.
  7. Long term – Build new Fire Station on US 127 South area within next 10 years.
  1. Women disc golf team came in and played new course and rated the experience high.
  2. Charlie will check with Mason for additional power at Lakeview.
  3. Sports Commission may pay for additional road. Ask Mason what all comes with contract.

Other Business:

  • Megan Sandfoss, presented Broadband Updates. Contracts w/ subcontractors coming soon.
  • Anna Barge, new Asst Director of Planning & Zoning starts 9/22.
  • Zoning Code updates discussed regarding short-term rentals.
  • Greg Owens, Chief Building Inspector, will retire within the next three years.
