Liquor Control Board Vacant Positions

Garrett County Board of License Commissioners (Liquor Control Board) Vacant Positions

Letters of interest are invited for consideration to fill one vacant board position (to complete an unexpired term) and one vacant substitute board position on the Garrett County Board of License Commissioners, formerly known as the Liquor Control Board.

In accordance with Maryland Alcoholic Beverages Article, Title 21, Section 21-202, two members of the Board must b long to the same political party as the majority of the Board of County Commissioners. Because of this requirement: The replacement for the unexpired term must be a registered Republican. 

The alternate member must be a registered Republican.

Duly filed letters of interest should be mailed on or before September 24, 2026 to the Garrett County Republican Central Committee, c/o Billy Bishoff, Vice Chairman, PO Box 401, Oakland, MD 21550.

Members of the Board are appointed by the Governor. He shall appoint two members of the board who are members of that political party which has elected a majority of the members of the Board of County Commissioners and one member of the board from that political party other than the one electing a majority of the Board of County Commissioners. 

The appointments shall be confirmed by the House of Delegates if there is no resident Senator elected from the county. Senate Bill 0802 / House Bill 1203 effective July 1, 2026.
