US-Israeli Airstrikes Attack Iraqi PMF Positions

(MENAFN) Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) stated early Tuesday that several of its positions were struck by US-Israeli air attacks.

In an official statement, the PMF said that three airstrikes hit Brigade 45 in the Jurf al-Nasr area in central Iraq, while a fourth struck Brigade 31 in the Karma sector of western Anbar province. The force added that no casualties occurred as a result of the strikes.

The PMF serves as an official Iraqi security umbrella, initially formed in 2014 following a religious edict by senior cleric Ali al-Sistani to combat ISIS (Daesh). It was later formally integrated into Iraq’s armed forces through a government decision in 2016.
