Jordan’s King Meets Egyptian Chief of Staff to Boost Military Partnership

(MENAFN) Jordan’s King Abdullah II held talks on Wednesday with Egypt’s Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Ahmed Khalifa, focusing on ways to deepen defense and military coordination between the two countries, according to official statements.

The discussions took place at Al-Husseiniya Palace in Amman and were attended by Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II as well as the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces, Maj. Gen. Yousef Ahmed Huneiti, as stated by reports.

During the meeting, both sides reflected on the strong and longstanding brotherly ties linking Jordan and Egypt. They also explored opportunities to further strengthen cooperation in military and defense sectors, while exchanging views on major developments affecting the region, according to the statement.

No information was released regarding the schedule or length of the Egyptian army chief’s visit to Jordan.

The talks were held against the backdrop of heightened regional strain, particularly escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran, following threats of military action against Iran by US President Donald Trump, according to reports.
